Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro was originally founded in 1969, and is a gathering place for different artists. Whether a band is well-known, or just starting out, they are welcomed to Cat’s Cradle with open arms and can perform whatever they wish. This past Saturday, a UNC student band made their debut and had the chance to perform on their backroom stage. The reason this UNC student band was there, is because Cat’s Cradle hosted a ‘Study Hall’ festival night where different student bands could perform. Among the bands were Comet Face, Orange County Collective, Mazzy and the 62’s, Mush Puppy!, With Love, and Davie Circle. The name Davie Circle comes from Chapel Hill road, which Noah Aiken, guitarist and vocalist, lived on growing up, and the circle of friends who shaped him into the person he is today. The concert was a success, and was a collaboration of different student artists at a local music scene. This provided a diverse night of student music and made for an unforgettable night.

This season, North Carolina’s women’s lacrosse team ranked second, trailing closely behind Boston College who secured the number one spot. On a Saturday afternoon game, going into halftime, North Carolina trailed Boston College 7-6 and is only the second time this entire season where UNC was trailing at halftime. The coaching staff got together to set up a gameplan to take the win over Boston. They decided to replace first-year goalkeeper Betty Nelson with first-year Lexi Zenk, in hopes of giving them what they wanted. Zenk held Boston to 4 goals in the second half, which tied Boston’s season-low goals scored in a half throughout this season. UNC went on to take the win over Boston 12-11 and Zenk ended up making four saves, stopping fifty percent of the shots taken against her. North Carolina is the only undefeated team left in Division 1 at this point in time. For Zenk, this was the first game she has played in since March 8th. She trusted the process, and the first-year is looking forward to her next game.
